I am a perpetually curious outdoorswoman with a passion for community-based ecology. From grubbing Leach’s Storm-Petrels on Bon Portage Island off the coast of Nova Scotia, monitoring parasitic worm infections in Nova Scotian sheep and providing community outreach on sustainable worm management practices, to conducting biomonitoring of the ponds on Sable Island, I have always loved working outdoors.
I have a B.Sc. (Honours in Biology) from Saint Mary’s University, CABIN Project Manager Certification, and a Diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology from Nova Scotia Community College. During my studies at NSCC, I had the opportunity to work with the WRWEO to assess macroinvertebrate diversity, and microplastics in sediment along the Bluff Trail. Currently, I work as a Research Assistant in Dr. Andrew Medeiros’s Laboratory for Water and Environmental Sustainability Science, at Dalhousie University.
My goal as a member of the WRWEO Board is to contribute to the ongoing management of the Bluff Trail and to promote sustainable practices within the Woodens River Watershed.
